Start your Service
01. How does the process of service start?
SI Homecare Agency will send the draft of the Care Service Agreement to the client through email for review and approval
02. What will the client do after receiving the Care Service Agreement (CSA)?
The client has to review the Care Service Agreement and send their comments or approval by replying to the email that the Agreement is acceptable and the client or their POA is ready to sign it
03. After sending a reply to the email with regards to the Care Service Agreement, what will be the next step?
- Once the CSA is approved by both parties, The client or their POA will sign the agreement and decide on the start date of the service
- A Registered Nurse (RN) from the agency will come for a visit to have an assessment of the client’s health condition and the physical state of the house, based from the client’s needs
- The RN will also discuss the roles and responsibilities of the PCA and what is expected from them
04. What is a Care Service Agreement (CSA) ?
A Care Service Agreement is an agreement between the client, who needs care and the SI Homecare Agency that will provide the services
05. What is included in the Care Service Agreement?
The agreement has the following contents: the client’s billing and financial responsibility, service interruption, release of client record, release of transport liability, client-PCA relationship, privacy hiring of employees and contract date
Personal Care Aide
01. What is a Personal Care Aide (PCA)?
A PCA is an employee on contract with SI Homecare Agency and is a licensed health professional certified by the Department of Health to provide home care for clients
02. How does the agency recruit PCAs?
- The recruitment of PCAs is done by a recruitment specialist. All PCAs go through a recruitment process prior to employment
- Since the PCAs are employees of the agency, they are provided with all required state / federal insurances
03. What is the standard work schedule of a PCA?
The PCA will work for 10 to 14 continuous days with 3 days off. A reliever PCA comes in to cover for the days off of the regular PCA
04. What are the work hours of a PCA?
- There are two types of work hours for PCAs: the hourly work hours, which is 6 to12 hours a day, and the live-in work hours, which the PCA will stay at the client’s house
05. What is a typical schedule for a live-in?
A typical schedule for a live-in would be as follows: 13 hours of work, 3 hours of meal time and 8 hours of rest, 5 hours of which is uninterrupted sleep
06. Does the client need to provide food for a live-in?
Since the live-in PCA is only allowed to go out at the end of his scheduled work days, they have to be provided affordable meals
07. What if the client and the PCA is not a good match?
A PCA will work for 1 week as trial period to see if he/she is the right fit for the client. If there is a mismatch of personalities between a client and PCA, the client can request from the agency for another PCA until a right match is achieved
